Right to Cite?

Each post on our blog is like our own family recipe. We want to share it with you, but just like your grandma’s chocolate chip cookies, we need to be sure to credit whoever thought of it first. We want you to know where we are getting our information and feel confident that we are using credible sources. We also understand how important it is to acknowledge the research that others have done and give them credit for the time they have put in. In addition, citations will enable our readers to conduct further research on a specific area of interest. Furthermore, we respect the need for online work to be referenced. Ideas and thoughts are the basis of any intelligent writing, and in sourcing those ideas, we promote a respectful academic culture on the internet.

Most of the sources used in our writing will be hyperlinked, but for the sources that cannot be publicly accessed, we will use MLA 7 for citation. An example of both can be viewed below. We will make a concerted effort to follow these proposed guidelines throughout the many blog posts that will follow.

Hyperlink: This would link to google <a href=”https://www.google.com”>here /a> as a source.

MLA 7: "Google" Google. Google Inc., n.d. Web. 16 Sept. 2013.

It is important, as mentioned before, for our blog to be easily navigable for our readers. To follow through with this promise, we will embed hyperlinks throughout our posts to provide an easy and quick way for readers to view our sources. As for our citation method, we have selected MLA 7 because it is one of the more universal and straightforward methods of citation used today.
