Intro Post

I bet you never considered the story behind that Alpine bagel you devoured this morning on your way to class- the culture that created it, the impact that it has on your body, and how that affects your day to day life. This blog will study the behavioral, cultural, and scientific implications of food. Why does food make us act the way we do? How does food bring us together as human beings? Finally, why does food work the way that it works? All of these questions are important because they dictate the social and communal aspect of life in college. Essentially, Food Effects- UNC Chapel Hill will provide a resource to encourage better eating habits among students, while helping them understand the other important elements of food that are often overlooked.

There are so many interesting principles regarding food... it’s difficult to pick where to start. The next post we release will dive into the science of food. We as authors are particularly interested in the effects the foods that we eat have on us (that is to say why particular foods affect our bodies the way that they do). These effects can present themselves in a variety of ways, be they physical, emotional, or physiological. For now, to read more about the authors, visit the biographies tab. Also, follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more up-to-date information.
